Before that they lived in Embden for just over 2 years. Nancy has devoted herself to raising their children. Their son John Logan is in the United States Air Force. Their two daughters Christina and Lauren attend Falmouth High School.
David works in the construction industry. When David first started his specialty was building the structures of single-family upscale homes, which evolved into his participation in larger upscale communities throughout the state. These communities ranged in size from 100 units to 2100 units. As things progressed David specialized in poured in place concrete construction of large commercial project such as shopping centers, malls, resorts, multi-family garden apartments, mid-rise and high-rise buildings. These projects were located from Miami to Orlando.
David lived in Embden where he became very involved with the local and state government while restoring some buildings in the Town of Bingham. David purchased a few of the buildings on Main Street that were in total disrepair. It was David's vision to restore these buildings to their original state and preserve their character so that the Downtown Area could once again be the Norman Rockwell setting it once was.
People in Bingham showed their confidence in David by electing him to positions in the local organizations. David was the President of the Upper Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Bingham Lions Club, Chairman of the Bingham Downtown Redevelopment Committee and President of the Bingham Community Development a 501c3 non-profit corporation.
David formed a few different committees and approached the town with an idea of pursuing a Downtown Redevelopment Grant from the State and Federal Government. David hosted several town meetings and gained support from the local residents of Bingham to pursue these grants. In 1998 David authored a grant which was present and turned down. (It came in 4th out of 11 applications only 3 were funded that year) Not to be discouraged David revised the application in 1999 presented it and it was approved. It came in 1st out 11 that year.
The volume of work and improvements that were accomplished with the grant money was unbelievable which was confirmed by the visit of then Governor Angus King. Angus King came to Bingham to see firsthand what was accomplished and left impressed with the effort. This effort created several jobs in Bingham with the businesses that were helped or created through the effort. David told Angus King that the effort he had done in Bingham could easily be duplicated in other small towns throughout the State of Maine.
David currently is developing a parcel of land consisting of 318 acres located in Acton, Maine. It was David's vision to develop a community that would protect the characteristic of the land yet provide a nice community atmosphere. While obtaining the approvals David personally built and supervised the construction of what he is told is the largest single family home in the area. (11,000 SF) David was also responsible for obtaining the approvals to subdivide the property to build the community which included constructing the roads and underground utilities for the project. The project received approval in August 2005 and construction started immediately of a 10 home subdivision for 55 and older. Currently several homes are under construction. The community that David built is called Eagles Trace.
In December 2005 David decided to run for Governor for the great State of Maine. It is David's opinion that unless something is done to change the way things are handled by the state government that the end result will be devastating to the people of Maine. Through the many discussions and debates David has had with folks from all over Maine he has formed the opinion that the folks have had enough of the way things are being done. It is his opinion that because of party politics many issues that should get resolved never do. This is the reason David is running as an Independent candidate.
It is David's belief that as an Independent Candidate he can work to resolve the issues between the two parties and accomplish more with the legislature than a Republican or Democratic Governor could. David's decisions would not be made based upon party politics. It would based on what is best for the people and the State of Maine. The time has come for the people of Maine to have a Governor that is someone that they can believe in. By voting for David Jones the people of Maine are taking a move in a positive direction towards solving the many problems that face them.
It is David's commitment is to support small business with unparalled measures to insure the success of small businesses in Maine. This will create good paying long term jobs for people throughout the state. This will enable people here in Maine to live the lifestyles they want and deserve.
David Jones has never held a political office which is something that should be looked upon in a positive way. David Jones' only obligation once elected is to the people in Maine who voted for him. It is David's promise that when elected he will in no way ever compromise himself or the people who believed in him that helped get him elected to do the job that has to be done.
